Dynamics of Mind

As a primary core of our life, as the central domain of our existence- mind plays an important role throughout the journey called ‘life’. Generating thoughts, feelings, emotions and ideas, mind works with us closely for every aspect of living. Be it dreams and aspirations that motivate us to work hard, or emotional bonds that connect us with our loved ones, be it doubts and fears that hold us back or imagination and ideas that prompt us to march ahead, each of these factors arise from the core of our mind. With an unlimited capacity to think, contemplate, retrospect and imagine, our mind often tends to shift away from the focus. Drifting away from the agenda in hand, our mind exhibits tendency to wander around.

Though dreams and imaginations are constructive elements that inspire us to think beyond the usual, while we expand our horizon; recognizing the temptation towards over-thinking is extremely essential. While positive thoughts and beneficial ideas can definitely help us in the long run, investing in unnecessary mind engagements can do more harm than good. Over-thinking about an undesirable event from the past or over-analysis about a situation beyond our control can invite nothing else besides sorrow, troubles, tensions and worries.

Over-thinking soon assumes the role of a habit, as the mind forces one to think about every aspect with great detail. Be it a happy or sad event, be it an incident from the past or a probable situation in the future, be it beneficial or harmful and necessary or unnecessary, the mind tends to engage into these situations quite often. Though exercising our mind with happy thoughts for the future can make life colorful, it is essential to draw a line over them at the right moment. Over-analysis can invite troubles of guilt, disappointment, disinterest and anxiety for an unnecessary aspect that can be avoided.

Understanding the troubles of over-thinking and eliminating this tendency for the future can prove beneficial in the long run.

Let us summarize these thoughts, as we realize the harmful aspects of over-thinking:
