Dubai. There are so many magnificent things to write about this city. The perfect mix of futuristic and traditional, Dubai has become one of the most amazing cities in the world, thanks to the visionary leadership of The Vice President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum.
While Emiratis (UAE citizens) only make up a fraction of the population, Dubai and Abu Dhabi are populated with people from cultures from all over the world living peacefully. With that being said, Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world.
The beautiful thing about Dubai is that newcomers always feel welcome because they can connect with countless experiences, be it eating traditional Bedouin cuisine, tanning on the beach, shopping in the modern malls or dune bashing in the desert.
As someone who was born and raised in Dubai, I can definitely say the city is filled with opportunities, positivity and constant change. From the landscape to the entertainment offered in the city, it’s no surprise that Dubai is on the map as a tourist hub. The nightlife is pretty hip too with options of shisha (hookah) lounges, live music venues and fancy hotels.
In terms of shopping, there’s something for every budget. You can go to the traditional souqs (open-air marketplaces) for a bargain or to one of the glitzy malls for some power shopping with international brands. The city offers not one, but two annual shopping festivals. Shopping is definitely a leisure activity in Dubai, with malls inspired by Italian palazzos, Persian palaces and Ancient Egypt luring in crowds. What’s more is that the malls have unlimited entertainment options, such as an indoor ski slope or a giant aquarium.
Let’s not forget that Dubai is home to the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa (see above). The Palm Jumeirah, another one of Dubai’s mega projects, has attracted many residents to the city. There are also soon-to-come international museums and the upcoming World Expo 2020, which will be hosted in Dubai. And to top it all off, it’s a tax-free city!
